Hi,
Welcome to another edition of Career Communiqué x-Press. I hope you have had a productive and successful fortnight.
We have finally held the official launch of
our book,
10 key steps to Ace that Interview –
Cutting edge interview techniques exposed!
with the Mayor of the
City of Casey – Cr
Colin Butler, presenting our book to various
key representatives from schools,
Recruitment agencies, Job Network Providers,
and Adult Education providers within the
municipality. We had a number of key media
representatives attending as well, with
articles being published in the local
newspaper in coming weeks.
It was a pleasure to have been able to share this book with these
representatives, all of whom continue to
look for additional resources that can
benefit the job seekers they represent and
support. If you are from an organisation
that supports job seekers and want to learn
more about our book and how this resource
can enhance their interviewing performance, please contact me
personally to discuss the possibility of
setting up an affiliate account.
Speaking of launches, after numerous
requests from clients and subscribers for a

Pursuing your passion: have you reached that
place of resolve?
This week I was reading an article (that
focused on the word ‘resolve’) which struck
a chord with me. The article was discussing
the exact same reason that prompts many of
our clients to participate in our
Purposeful Careers programs. Perhaps you
can relate to this too?
An online dictionary defines the meaning of
the word ‘resolve’ as: to make a firm
decision about something; to cause (a
person) to reach a decision; and as the
article so aptly puts it, ‘an emotional
response that is fuelled by disgust.’
I’m sure that each of us can recall a time
where we have felt compelled and have been
influenced to make a firm decision about
something because what was occurring was no
longer acceptable to us. Perhaps the
continued lack of professionalism of one of
your suppliers caused you to seek out the
services of another supplier. Or maybe, over
the past few years, the number on your
bathroom scales has been steadily increasing
(as have the size of the clothes you are
buying) and struggling to get the button
closed you reach the point where you finally
say ‘enough is enough.’
A common situation that finally causes our
clients to come to a place of resolve is the
feeling of dissatisfaction and
disappointment in their jobs. The feeling
that they have been walking on a treadmill
that was going nowhere fast, the dread of
Monday mornings, and feeling that days,
weeks, and months are just dragging by till
finally after years of struggle they reach a
point where they can’t stand it any longer,
and know that something has to change.

Jodie felt compelled to take action
after 15 years of working in the
business management field which was just
not as fulfilling as it had been when
she first started. |
|
n |
Peter came to the place of resolve after
recognising the symptoms of burnout.
|
|
n |
Sally’s resolve came after years of
working in an environment that was not
aligned with her work values. |
|
n |
Terry was compelled to make a change and
discover what her life's purpose and
calling was, after years of feeling
couped up in an office and being
'psychologically chained' to her desk,
in an environment where she could not
express her fun loving and vivacious
character. |
|
n |
Susie's resolve came after spending many
years in an industry where she just
didn't feel she was making a difference
in the world or to people. |
What situation in your life or career do you
NEED to change today! And, what will the
consequences be if you DON’T change?
Remember, if you change nothing – nothing
changes. Are you willing to continue paying
the price of NOT changing?
If you can relate to this and have come to
your own place of resolve and would like a
partner to support you as you begin to make
changes in your life and career, it would be
an honour to work with you. My email is
annemarie@annemariecross.com.
Have a great fortnight everyone!
To your success!
