Hi,

uncertainWelcome to another issue of Career Communiqué x-Press, and especially a warm ‘hello’ to all of our new subscribers. I consider it a real privilege to have you join me and I look forward to supporting you in your career journey!

During a recent discussion with a colleague, we were reflecting on how life can often bring us unforeseen obstacles however it’s in how we approach the challenge that determines just how we move forward. Do we take the necessary steps to overcome the obstacle and continue towards goal achievement or do we do the opposite and let the situation shatter our dreams, hopes and commitment.

Some people are naturally optimistic and look for the learning opportunities in a situation, finding different ways that will allow them to move through the barriers. However others, less optimistic in nature, can tend to concentrate on the barrier and the difficulties faced without putting any time and energy into working through this.

Which person are you?

If you currently find yourself faced with a challenge, what are three things you can learn from this obstacle that will allow you to move forward with confidence (rather than with doubt and pessimism)? Who can you reach out to in your network who may be able to support you? What might you have to do differently that would allow you to secure a better outcome?

Remember, taking charge of your destiny is far more empowering and helpful than being stuck as a victim of your circumstances. What are you going to take charge of today?

Onto this issue’s article:

Five must-do job search strategies for the mature age job seeker

Are you a mature age person who has found themselves back in the job market? If your plan to secure new employment is to dust off your old resume, add a few more details of your most recent employers and experience, and then circulate it to recruiters and job advertisements and wait for your phone to ring, you may find yourself quite discouraged over your lack of responses.

Today’s article shares five must-do tips to get you noticed in a competitive job market. Be sure to post a comment on my blog and tell me what you think, okay?

Hope you enjoy this fortnight’s article
